Description

Interested in Brand Name or Equal to Malvern Panalytical Inc. Multi-Purpose X-Ray Diffractometer.

A complete x-ray diffractometer shall be delivered 24 weeks after contract award and must include the following:

• Optical modules shall perform a large variety of divergent-, parallel-, and micro-beam measurements with automated control of optics.

• Package features shall include 3D detector that supports OD, 1 D, and 20 measurements.

• High-resolution vertical-circle theta-theta goniometer with advanced position tracking.

• Optical mounting system for fast exchange of optics and sample stages without realignment.

• Automatic component recognition.

• X-ray tube housing with easy switching between line and point focus without tools.

• 4kW solid-state generator.

• Fixed divergence slit optic with slits, masks, and 0.04 rad Soller slit.

• A stage for flat sample holders.

• Radiation enclosure with large radiation-safe windows and wide doors for easy ergonomic access.

• The system shall meet stringent regulations on X-ray, electrical, and mechanical safety.

• Data collector data acquisition software with multi-user management and automatic data processing architecture.

• Data viewer software shall view and compare multiple data sets, measure basic peak statistics, and batch convert data.

• Data shall be savable in an openly-documented XML file structure.

• Beta-Filter with Ni foil for suppression of unwanted radiation produced by the Cu anode X-ray tube.

• Automated sample changer with autoloading standard circular sample holders. Capacity to hold up to 3 magazines, each of which holds 15 sample holders. The sample changer shall have 3 built-in positions, typically used to hold monitor and reference samples, bringing the total possible capacity to 48 sample holders. The sample magazines shall be removable so that they can be easily loaded outside the diffractometer enclosure.

• A sample stage for samples loaded in circular sample holders. The programmable phi-axis motor shall be used to spin the sample to improve grain statistics or to rotate the sample (e.g., for phi scans). This sample stage can be used in reflection and transmission geometry.

• Set of 3 bottom plates that are part of the 2-piece powder sample holders designed to support both front-loading and back-loading techniques.

• Set of 3 sample holders for solid samples with a maximum diameter of 44mm and maximum thickness of 6.5mm. Shall hold a variety of solid pieces or mounting plates using wax or plasticine.

• Set of 3 sample holder rings for samples on substrates, pressed pellets, tilters, and powders mounted on specialty inserts. Shall accommodate sample plates with 37.5 to 40.3mm diameter up to 6mm thick. Including a support plate and spring that pushes the sample plate to the optimal z-alignment position. Supports scans starting at >3deg 2theta.

• Set of 3 inserts that encapsulate a sample using X-ray transparent film to protect the sample from air and moisture. The insert shall consist of a polyoxymethylene ring that clamps an X-ray transparent film over a metal base plate with a cavity 35mm diameter and 2mm thick.

• Package of 500x pre-cut X-ray transparent polyimide (Kapton) foils for encapsulating powder in the air-sensitive sample insert or transmission sample holders. Foils shall have a 63.5mm diameter and are 7.5 micrometers thick.

• Set of 15 zero background holders made from 32mm diameter silicon single crystal substrates. The silicon substrate is off-cut so that it does not diffract during routine Bragg-Brentano geometry measurements using Cu radiation. One side of the substrate is flat while the other side has a recess of 15mm diameter x 0.2mm deep.

• Set of 3 top plates that are part of the 2-piece powder sample holders designed to support both front-loading and back-loading techniques. The top plate has a 16mm diameter x 2.4mm thick cavity, along with a spacer that can be used if you only want to fill part of the cavity. Shall support scans starting at O deg 2theta.

• Kit to aid the back-loading of powders into the 2-piece powder sample holders. Includes a sample preparation table with a special clamping device to secure and release the top plate, powder press block, dusting brush, and knife blade.

• Set of 3 sample holder rings to mount inserts for transmission geometry powder diffraction measurements. The ring shall also mount other inserts with 40mm diameter x 6mm thickness, such as the air-sensitive sample insert. The sample holder ring has a standard 51.4mm diameter circular footprint for sample stages such as reflection-transmission spinner and sample changer.

• Package of 250 disposable inserts for transmission geometry diffraction measurements.

• Roll (2500 m) of 6um Mylar film for liquid sample analysis.

• State-of-the-art industrial grade PC with current Microsoft Windows operating system, 64-bit version.

• A full HD widescreen PC monitor to provide sufficient, high-resolution workspace for displaying the instrument user software.

• Extra radiation-safe enclosure feedthroughs, so that additional cables and hoses shall be fed into the diffractometer enclosure.

• An air compressor for the pneumatic components of the diffractometer, such as door locks and radiation safety shutters. Shall include manifold and air filters.

• Refrigerated water recirculating system equipped with a water-cooled condenser capable of providing 3850 watts of cooling capacity. This unit shall be equipped with a robust turbine water pump for extra durability and a high-temperature thermostat cut-off system designed to de-energize the pump if the inlet water temperature increases to unsafe levels. The unit shall be equipped with hand- operated shut-off valves for easy isolation during servicing. An accessory kit includes:

o 1/2" Hand Shut-Off Valves

o Y- Strainer: a cleanable screen filter used to filter the tap water cooling the chiller.

o Hose Kit

• Three licenses of the latest version of HighScore analytical software.

• Advanced analytical capabilities such as whole pattern fitting (Rietveld, Pawley, and LeBail techniques) for quantification and structure refinement, quantification using the Direct Derivative Method, expanded statistical Cluster analysis, unit cell indexing and space group testing, structure solution by charge flipping, line profile analysis, expanded automation using Pascal scripts, and more.

• Simulation of specular and diffuse scattering X-ray data, allowing automatic fitting of specular reflectivity curves.

• Analytical software package for visualizing and analyzing single and 2-axes scan data to determine relevant thin film parameters. Offering peak position-based calculations for rocking curves, specular reflectivity, and reciprocal space maps in order to calculate mismatch, composition, thickness, and relaxation.

• A multipurpose sample stage with programmable chi, phi, and z-axis motors. Motor shall range are Chi: -3 to 93°; Phi 2x 360°; z: 64mm.

• An accessory for mounting capillaries, micro meshes, small sample tables, or solid samples onto sample stages such as the Capillary Spinner, Micro-Diffraction Spinner, and Computed Tomography Stage.

• A closed glass-ceramic sample holder and shall have a maximum operating temperature of 900 deg C, appropriate for vacuum and static gas.

• Installation kit for Anton Paar non-ambient chambers that need external water cooling and power. Provides enough material and connections for up to two non- ambient chambers.

• Accessory to create a high vacuum (1QA-4 mbar) in non-ambient sample stages. Which includes a rotary pump, turbomolecular pump, pressure gauge, vent valves, flanges and hose parts, and a controller for automated push-button operation.

o The rotary pump shall be used by itself as a Low Vacuum System for sample stages that only need a low vacuum.

• The system components shall be approved by UL or come with an NRTL or equivalent electrical certification.

• The initial system operational overview shall comprise of a brief basic operational overview of the system and how to maintain the hardware.

• Remote application training shall comprise of a Subject Matter Expert delivering an extended overview of the system's software and hardware that aims to provide the best practice guidance, best resources available, and how to use those resources to gain further confidence in utilizing your system toward meeting needs.
