The Air Force Test Center’s Installation Contracting Division (AFTC/PZI) at Arnold Air Force Base (AFB), TN is requesting for information to manufacture and install a backup to the Arnold Engineering Development Complex’s (AEDC) PES #7 transformer in accordance with (IAW) Attachment 1 - HTL Transformer Requirements.docx. See attachment for additional details.

Scope of the RFI:

We invite industry experts and vendors to provide recommendations and insights on the best approach to fulfill this requirement. Specifically, we seek responses to the following:

1. Transformer Acquisitions: Recommendations on the most suitable approach for acquiring a three-phase transformer that aligns with the specified conversion requirements. Vendors are encouraged to suggest available products, their specifications, and advantages, as well as the feasibility of customized solutions.


2. Industry Expertise: Insights on industry best practices and state-of-the-art technologies for implementing such a power conversion system. We welcome recommendations for proven methologies, equipments, or technologies.


3. Build vs. Procure: Your perspective on whether the most efficient path to obtaining the required transformer is to procure an existing product or to develop a customized solution. Share your insights on the pros and cons of both approaches.
